  • Day 1 Arrive Beijing, Bullet Train to Datong
     
    Upon arrival at Beijing airport, your local guide will greet you at the airport, holding a sign with your name. Transfer to Beijing train station and catch a bullet train to Datong (approx. 2 hours). Enjoy a private transfer from Datong train station to your hotel with an English-speaking local Expert Guide.

    Day 2 Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Nine-Dragon Screen
     
    Unwind the day with a visit to three iconic places featured in Black Myth Wukong: Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Yungang Grottoes represent the outstanding achievement of Buddhist cave art in China. Marvel at the intricate details of the Buddha statues, some of which are among the largest and most impressive in China. Huayan Temple, originally built in 1038 during the Liao dynasty, preserves the architectural styles of both the Liao and Jin dynasties. The Mahavira Hall and Buddhist Texts Library are particularly remarkable, showcasing intricate sculptures, frescoes, and inscriptions. Shanhua Temple was founded in the 8th century. Its Mahavira Hall, built in the 11th century, is one of China’s largest of its kind. Marvel at the intricate details of the Nine-Dragon Screen, built in 1392 to screen the residence of an Imperial prince. Measuring 45.5 meters (150 feet) in length, it is the oldest and largest glazed-tile wall still extant in China.

    Day 3 Yanmen Pass, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda
     
    Set off on a historical adventure to Yanmen Pass and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. Yanmen Pass, part of the Great Wall, features three fortified gatehouses that once guarded a crucial entry point into northern China. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes from the pass’s heights. Afterward, marvel at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the world’s tallest wooden pagoda. Standing at an impressive 67 meters (221 feet), this ancient structure dates back to the 11th century and showcases the remarkable architectural skills of its builders.

    Day 4 Hanging Temple, Yongan Temple, Jueshan Temple
     
    Embark on a cultural adventure through Datong’s three sacred temples: Hanging Temple, Yongan Temple, Jueshan Temple, which served as inspiration for the acclaimed game, Black Myth: Wukong. Perched precariously on a cliffside, the Hanging Temple is an architectural marvel that has stood for over 1,500 years. Walk along the dizzying plank roads and be captivated by the breathtaking views and the ingenious engineering that keeps this temple suspended in mid-air. Nestled at the foothills of Hengshan Mountain, Yongan Temple is a serene 13th-century sanctuary known for its exquisite Yuan dynasty frescoes. Marvel at the 13-story Jueshan Temple Pagoda, a prominent feature in Black Myth: Wukong, is a towering structure that dominates the temple complex. Its imposing height and intricate design make it a striking visual element in the game.

    Day 5 Bullet Train Beijing, Depart China
     
    Transfer to Datong railway station with a private vehicle and English-speaking guide.
